That logic is completely flawed.
As clearly pointed out by hitchinsd in this post.

But if you're going to alter the system to force us to do so, don't come in here and tell us that the change is for our own good and that it's better than before.

It isn't.

What if I want to collect tokens for the next era by watching one? That means I don't need minerals, gas, metal, oil, energy, workers, whatever... I need tokens for a good start for the next era. But this system "sells" me something I don't need, so it is logically unsound to convert the value of resources into blue tokens.
And even as a watcher, I bring in one more active colony to the world, attracting more players.

Let's be honest, the change is to the worst for the players. Is it to the better for BD, only time will tell.

but we don't give it to you for free, we give it to you as a reward when you've done something that will benefit us. It's called equivalent exchange. You voted for us, our ranking rises and gain more players. You used the toolbar, the toolbar will give us a few income in return.

And now we practically give it for free, all you need to do is log in and click. And you get blues, how simple is that.
Another flaw in the logic.
What difference does it make for a player trying to get some tokens, if he/she clicks at a link that will bring $1, $10, $100 or nothing at all to BD? It's the same effort, the player doesn't have to know and doesn't feel the difference if BD is getting some revenue or not from clicking on "token giving" links and objects.

Anyway, here's the short history in depriving free players from blue tokens. It's from memory, so may not be chronologically correct and complete.
  1. 4 voting links removed
  2. tokens per vote link reduced from 5 to 3 due to "serious abuse" according to Seth, though I never saw explanation of the abuse
  3. one more voting link removed
  4. new rewards proposal - only 1st alliance gets rewarded, which was later changed to include some rewards for 2nd alliance
  5. reducing the income of free tokens by further 44%

I will just conclude that I have seen these "symptoms" in dying games, one is the thing of history and the other is struggling to keep positive balance by inventing desperate updates to keep their players.
What is common to dying games is hitting the free players. But that's not wise, as majority of player base is composed of free players or those that pay occasionally.

Regards.

voting links removed

remember, voting links are not "lol we'll just put it there" or "lol nah remove it". It is an agreement between two groups, Tacticsoft and the voting site. That is, they attract players to us, while we give them something in return. And when an agreement can't be reached anymore, the contract is cancelled. Thus voting links are removed. It has nothing to do with whether the game is dying or not.

voting rewards lowered

as explained on the update thread. It was lowered becuz the majority of players click-n-close, thus give us no thing in return. So we had to reduce the tokens reward, since it wasn't beneficial to us.

reward changes

this is to counter the battlehug problem that is slowly, but surely killing off BD. However it wasn't well-received, hence we had to go with a lowered 2nd and 3rd place reward.

voting removal

as explained above, voting is not beneficial to us anymore. Hence it's removed.

Becuz the token from voting is supposed to be a rewards for your promoting the game. It's "click to vote for us, and get blue as a rewards", not "click to get blue, u don't really need to vote tho".

that's like offering rewards for spotting or giving info about a wanted person. But u didn't spot or give any info and wanted to get the rewards anyway. Which is just wrong.

and this system is supposed to benefit the currently playing players, since we encourage ppl to play. But it's not like we discourage ppl to watch, hence the blue tokens rewards.

Plz at least respect that this is not for our benefit but is for BD.Seriously i liked older version of battle dawn. I think slowly but certainly this game WILL become a money game instead of a free one> You guyz r making a plot which makes us Buy reds to compete

when I said "this system benefited currently playing player", I meant "benefit it more than the watching / collecting tokens player". Obviously it is also to benefit BD. The whole changes revolve around the fact that voting is not beneficial anymore so we switch to another system that will bring us more benefit.

And I don't see why we are forcing you to buy red. The blue token received for watching players is reduced, so? It only takes longer for you to collect blue. We don't increase the blue tokens price, or raise the blue boost countdowns, do we?

And I said it before, there are other ways for you to get blue, a lot of blue, to the point that you will not even bother getting daily bonus anymore. That is participate in the MT team or the tribune. MT team isn't accepting any members atm, but I'm pretty sure the tribune team won't say no to a helping hand.

I haven't implied, but you inferred that I think of BD as a dying game.

Please don't make generalizations. I was always putting captcha codes into the voting windows that popped up. Some other members here stated the same. If you trust me, or us, that is completely different matter.

The battlehugging seems to have pretty vague definition and is overestimated. From experience, the apparent battlehugging resulted in hardcore backstabbing, which in turn made that era the most stressful and difficult I've ever played.
Things are never black and white, there are always shades of grey.

So now we get tokens as a gift? Since we do nothing, or "spot no one" in return for BD by using the new Daily Bonus system. I see a paradox here.

I can tell, the new system is quite discouraging for players taking a break by watching one era and collecting tokens for another one. And even "playing players" may not be happy, as they most probably get what they don't need at the time.
It's always better to give me $10 instead of a gift worth $10, as I might have it already. But will certainly use $10 for something I don't.

Can't find rationalization of "reducing the income of free tokens by further 44%"...
