can an attack be intercepted midway , before it reaches my colony?

Anyone in the know kindly answer.

Nop.

you can shoot incoming squad/squad by Ion cannon, so that 1 of them will be delayed ETA 1 and also will be at 1 Hp, but there is no way to kill them in midway

In the sense you are thinking, no. An attack can be ioned and it will weaken 1 squad to 1 hp and delay that squad. It will not neutralize the attack and if there is more than 1 squad the rest of the squads will be undamaged and continue on as normal. I would strongly recommend not ioning an attack though, it is a huge waste of energy.
